An abstract sculpture with red and green forms at its base and a tall, clear ribbon soaring upwards.

Connections Nr. 2

This work began with a question: what is the color of belonging? For me, it has always been the deep green of Umbrian forests and the warm, vital red of its earth.

I wanted to give form to the kind of connection that is passed down through the hands, the kind that seeps into your bones. The intertwined strands of Plexiglas are that embrace between generations, as tender and tenacious as vines on an old wall. At their center, a ceramic orb holds the imperfect beauty of things made by hand; its cracks are the maps of this land, and of the lives lived upon it.

But the piece is only truly complete when light passes through it. It is then that the opposition of red and green dissolves into a liquid gold. It is the quiet alchemy of memory, the simple miracle of knowing you are exactly where you are meant to be.
