Connections Nr. 9
There are moments, standing in the studio in the early morning, when I am overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude so powerful it feels like a physical current. It’s not a quiet feeling. It is a force that demands to be given form.
The work Connection Nr. 9 was born from such a moment. It’s my attempt to make that recognition tangible: the quiet understanding that I am held by my work, my people, and the golden light on the wall.
I shaped the ceramic to be like a vessel, a cupped palm. Its intricate patterns are the textures of a life I feel lucky to live, each mark a silent thank you. But for me, gratitude is never passive. The eruption of blue Plexiglas from the core is that energy made visible. It is the laugh that bursts out unexpectedly, the irrepressible need to create beauty simply because beauty was given to you first.
It is not a container for a feeling; it is the feeling itself, overflowing.
