L'incanto dei silenzi
The enchantment of silences
Living in Umbria has taught me about silence. Not the absence of sound, but a presence in itself. A quiet so full of history and unspoken things that it feels more like a language.
This work began as my attempt to listen to that language. I started thinking about the different kinds of silence I know: the charged stillness between two people just before an understanding is reached; the nocturnal tension of the garden, which never truly sleeps; the inner quiet where thoughts are too nuanced for words.
I wanted to give these silences a physical form, a geometry. The modular panels became my vocabulary. Each surface is layered with a restrained emotion: a flare of fuchsia is the heat of a confession that remains unspoken; an emerald haze is the memory that resists being named. The Plexiglas connecting them is like a held breath, a transparent conduit for all that tension, holding the invisible threads between what we feel and what we perceive.
This piece doesn't offer easy answers. It asks for a certain kind of attention, a willingness to be still. It is my belief that in a world saturated with noise, the most profound meanings are often found not in what is said, but in what is gracefully withheld.
