This work is about the moment a map is torn and must be redrawn.
The dense, textured surfaces are the weight of a past; a world intricate and known, but no longer a home. The gold fracture that cuts through the center is not a compositional choice. It is the rupture itself. Painful, yes, but also the illuminating slash of light that signifies release. This is the difficult birth of a new space.
It is the topography of letting go, and the beautiful, terrifying terrain of beginning again.
