This painting began without a map.

The title, 'Verso il lungo viaggio', came to me much later, because I realized the process of creating it mirrored the feeling of a journey.

I started with the dark background, a sort of silent, empty space. Then, layer by layer, these forms began to emerge from my memory and my intuition.

I remember mixing the greens and thinking of the lush, untamed nature of my home in Umbria. The flashes of blue felt like glimpses of sky through a dense canopy. The work grew organically, like a plant reaching for light. It taught me about its own direction as I painted it.

For me, this piece is a testament to the creative act itself as a journey—a long, uncertain, but always revealing passage from a blank canvas to a world full of life.
