MEET LAURA ALUNNI: Material Alchemist
My practice is driven by a question that has guided me for over forty years: how can a fleeting human feeling be given timeless form?
I work from Umbria, in the heart of Italy, but my subjects are the inner landscapes of memory, silence, and light.
I call myself a Material Alchemist, for my work is a process of transmutation.
It is a dialogue between the intangible and the concrete; the weight of history and the lightness of a moment, the resilience of stone and the fragility of a memory.
My process involves a constant wrestling with materials, a search for the hidden life within pigment, clay, and Plexiglas. I withdraw into silence to dismantle and rebuild my own language, allowing each piece to emerge from this deep, internal research.
This is not a search for a fixed style, but for an authentic essence.
My work seeks to create a space for quiet connection, rooted in the belief that true value lies in the courage to remain in a state of constant transformation.
